Well, my allergies have hit very hard and I have that bronchial wheezing croupy kind of cough I remember as a kid. I am covered with Vicks Vapor Rub and breathing menthol like it is my last great hope. I would say Swine Flu but this is my worst time of year anyhow and right now I have to take my medecine and go away....bye for now....I'll be back when the Kleenex run out and I have to surface for more.

I Do Love Nantucket
Yes, more Nantucket stuff.
I have so many pictures from that one day...most of what I have already downloaded are from the car parade..the others are with my husband. I ran out of memory so he gave me one of his whatevers and he told me I couldn't get the pictures off, he had to because there were so many (not mine) that he had already taken it would take too long to do on my computer. And now - I'M WAITING!!
I took pictures of the ladies in their daffodil hats and men in their yellow shirts and blue bow ties wearing their seersucker suits...yes, you heard me, seersucker. Honestly, I highly recommend at least going for the day and make it Saturday when all the stuff is out. A couple of years ago I went but on Sunday and all the field day things were over...the shops were there and the window boxes were stuffed with daffodils but the people were back to normal clothes and not a dog was dressed up. Go on Saturday...better yet .. stay for the weekend. Yes! That's the ticket!! Empty your bank account and get a room! Look, I'll show you the difference. Here's the square this year on Saturday.
Here's the square a couple of years ago on Sunday.
See? There are people there on Saturday. Later when I get those pictures from the Hubby's camera...you will see people at their best daffodil silliness. What fun!

Off to the Daffodils
I am so excited. Today is the off to Nantucket day for the Daffodil Extravaganza. There will be a parade of old cars decorated with fleurs...a dog parade....a flower show.....shops and restaurants and the church steeple to climb and the whaling museum and I feel like I am 12 and going on that field trip. Oooooh! a bus or in this case a ferry. I will post pictures and pictures and pictures. The sun is shining and it's a glorious day. Hope everyone has a good one too.

Misery
Just read that Ann Coulter's mother died and what Ann wrote and I have been crying for quite some time. Meanwhile the husband and I have been having some discussions and I feel that he does not love me unconditionally (who does but God and yet it always surprises me). I am such a bag of cats today....

Holiday Table
Oh, the week ends. We are having company...well, family isn't really company but on Easter Sunday we treat everyone as company. There will be nine of us at the table and my husband, bless him, is the chef of the day. He will be roasting a giant leg of lamb and putting all the finishing touches on it. My brother in law will peel every potato ever grown in the Northeast and mashing them till they scream. One year he stopped peeling before the bag was empty thinking that surely ten pounds is overkill, that was the year the family calls the mashed potato famine since we ran out of them. Anywho.....here's a before picture of the table....would have taken an after but couldn't find the camera....I think someone ate it.
Don't you love the color scheme? And that table cloth? $2.99 at the Christmas Tree shop and this marks the first ever time that nobody spilled a thing...not a thing. My linen and crocheted heirloom thing? Every year -- red wine, gravy and wax from the candles. This year? Nothing.....I can use that $2.99 baby again. How does this happen?

Pay Attention Much?
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Sun is shining and birds are singing and I'm off to get a haircut after missing my last week's appointment. My husband, of course, told me what a great haircut I had not knowing I missed the appointment so now we know how much attention is paid to the way the hair looks. That's not always a bad thing but, I ask you!
Later, and we'll see what he says today.

Put in My Place
In my daily rounds I visited a woman whose political views are totally not like my own. I don't go there for the politics but because the pictures are pretty. No, seriously, I like the pictures. If I haven't been there for a while I scroll down and check out the days I have missed and today. . . there was a political entry about that demon woman, the witch of the world, the "gasp" almost a heartbeat from the Presidency, the lovely Sarah. It was a snarky bit about her sister-in-law being arrested for something and my, how fortunate we are that we were spared and she did not attain the heights of VP. The comments were silly and I was forced....forced I tell you to respond by stating that Sarah's in-laws have as little to do with her character as Obama's do his and my, aren't we shallow and snarky.
I was beaten back with, if you don't like what I say, don't read it. Wow. I guess that I won't. Thanks. I have been put right in my place. I think though, she meant to say, if I don't like what she writes and I don't like the comments made then I should read it and shut up. Guess what political party espouses that behavior.

Actually I am disappointed in the attitude taken by that lady since she, in a lot of ways appears to be very lovely. I guess I won't be looking at those pictures again. sigh!

A Curiously Naive Congresswoman
Just read through The Hill briefly. thehill.com is all about news from our esteemed elected officials and what is going on in that part of the world. It's a good quick look at our controllers. Today featured an article by a reporter Susan Crabtree and the headline of the article is:
Sen. Stevens got Screwed by Justice
The whole thing is interesting but this really caught my attention -- a quote from a Congresswoman, and I quote:
"Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) charged that the Justice Department “ruined” her former colleague’s political career. "I am pleased with the news that the Justice Department will drop all charges against Sen. Ted Stevens, but I am deeply disturbed that the government can ruin a man’s career and then say, ‘Never mind,’ ” Murkowski said."
Is she serious? Doesn't the press do that all the time? Doesn't Congress have a long and strong history of that very same thing? Oh, maybe it's the never mind that got to her. Once a political victim has been mauled and left for dead, our elected leaders rarely look back to say never mind do they?
